Viscos is a modest and nice mountain village with its some 40 inhabitants,
its houses made of stone.
It' s situated at a height of 850 m, on the slope of a massif on the way to Luz Ardiden.
Its panorama is exceptional: mountain stream, waterfalls, flowers, pastures,
snow and the village give us components of the most beautiful painting ever.
A tradition: slates, the last witness of a very ancient practice in Pyrenees Valleys as is shown by the black roofs of the houses. You 'll be seduced by the rustic look as well as by the quality of an unsophisticated product.
If you take a walk in the Viscos forest, don t be afraid when you meet "l' Echine du Dinosaure" (emergence of a rock) and with some luck, you ' ll catch a
glimpse of does or capercaillies.
Then keep on walking to the 'Pic de Viscos" and if you climb up to the top, you' ll be completely dazzled by the fantastic outlook.
Some photographs, below, of the village and some doors of old barns.
House of the village Viscos
Romane chruch with wall-belfry, very rustic church with its pavement out
of slate and its rétable Baroque.
Located at 5 mn of Holy Luz Saint Sauveur with car, on left slope of the gave and the throats of Luz, this small village will allure you for his typical character of the slate villages of the Toy Country. The pastorale life remains present and you will appreciate to trott yourselves since the pedestrian ways in direction of the Peak of Viscos.
You will also appreciate the panoramic sight on the village of Chèze and the valley of Luz Saint Sauveur.
